What is Nano Banana? Why is it trending on social media?

On platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram, the hashtag #NanoBanana is gaining massive attention as users share images transformed into figures using Nano Banana. This is a product of Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, a versatile AI image synthesis tool that supports figure creation, image prediction, multi-image blending, and many other creative features.

Since August 2025, Google officially launched Nano Banana and integrated it into Gemini 2.5 Flash, allowing users not only to create figures but also to experience powerful multimedia AI capabilities.

How to Create a Figure (Toy Model) with Nano Banana

The process of creating a personalized figure is incredibly simple, even for beginners, and can be done in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Prepare a Full-Body Photo of Yourself

Prepare a full-body photo of yourself. If you want to create an interactive video with the model, it’s best to use a landscape (16:9) photo.

Step 2: Create a Toy Model on Google AI Studio

For detailed instructions on using Nano Banana to create images for free, you can refer to the guide below:

Or watch this video for a basic tutorial first:

Access Google AI Studio: https://aistudio.google.com

Simple Basic Toy Model

Upload your photo and use the prompt below to create a simple toy model.

Create a 1/7 scale figure, designed realistically, in the style of commercial product photography.
Realistic PVC model with a glossy effect on hair and clothing.
Display the complete figure on a transparent round acrylic base, with a stable and natural standing pose, using a transparent acrylic rod attached to the base or the figure’s feet firmly plugged into the base.

Arrange everything on a clean indoor desk, illuminated with soft, realistic lighting to highlight the figure’s textures.
Add a subtle reflection on the acrylic base.

The overall look should feel like an official, professional, and luxurious product showcase.
Result:

Add a Toy Box Next to It

Add this line to the prompt to include a toy box next to the model, with a name of your choice on the box.

Place the packaging box behind the figure on the right side, designed in BANDAI style, featuring full-body 2D colorful artwork of the entire character from head to toe.
The box should have a natural glossy finish. Prominently display "Yuto Tech" on the box.
Result:

Add a Computer Screen During Design

You can also add a computer screen showing the design process of the model by including the line below in the prompt.

On a nearby computer screen, display a gray clay sculpture model of the character in ZBrush, focusing on the digital details of the sculpting stage.
Result:

Pretty simple, right? 😁

By now, you should be able to create a toy model of yourself. Next, we’ll cover how to create a realistic interactive video with your model.

Step 3: Create an Interactive Video with the Model on Veo

First, let me explain why we recommend using a landscape (16:9) photo instead of a portrait one. Currently, Veo can only generate videos in landscape format (16:9).

If you use a portrait photo, the resulting video may not look right at the top, for example:

(2.01 MB)

If you use a landscape photo, the resulting video will be well-balanced, for example:

Convert Your Photo to Landscape Format (16:9)

If your photo is already in landscape format, skip this step.

If Using Photoshop:
Photoshop’s Generative Expand feature is very useful for this. Select the 16:9 ratio, then choose Generative Expand to create a landscape photo.

If you don’t have Photoshop, you can use Nano Banana directly to create a landscape photo as follows.

Prepare a landscape photo with a horizontal ratio, for example:

Then, in AI Studio, upload your portrait photo and the landscape photo, and use the prompt below to merge them into a single landscape image with a horizontal ratio:

Add this person to the scene below
Note: You must upload in this order—your photo first, then the landscape photo—to get a proper landscape result.

Once you have a landscape photo, go back to Step 2 and reuse the prompts from Step 2 to recreate the model image.

Use Veo to Create an Interactive Video with the Model

In AI Studio, access Veo via the Generate media → Veo menu, or use the link below:
https://aistudio.google.com/prompts/new_video

Upload the model image you just created, and use the command below to generate a video. You can replace "Female" with "Male" to feature a man’s hands instead.

Add realistic female hands holding the toy figure from the uploaded image.
The hands should look natural, gently gripping the sides of the figure as if lifting it up, without covering or obscuring the figure’s head or any details.
Keep the original figure, including the head, colors, and background unchanged.
Make the hands proportionate, feminine, with natural skin tone, and well-lit under the same lighting conditions as the photo.
